Electrolytes (baseline before antibiotics)  
LFTs (liver function)

If suspect sepsis: 
Blood gas analysis 
Serum lactate 
Procalcitonin assay (biomarker for bacterial cause of sepsis)
ESR/CRP (inflammatory cause)
