Clinical evaluation. Best initial test: C2 and C4 in complimentary pathway -> decreased; C1 esterase inhibitor -> decreased;
RiskFactors
Family history; Recent start of ACE inhibitors; Can be from deficiency of C1 esterase inhibitor; Onset can be associated even with minor trauma; Allergic angioedema (this is the most common kind): Shellfish; Fish; Peanuts; Tree nuts; Eggs; Milk; Pollen; Animal dander; Latex; Insect stings;

For hereditary steroids do not work! If necessary remove ACE inhibitors or other medications;
