Biliary colic
ConditionDescription
Occurs when a gallstone becomes lodged in the cystic duct and the gallbladder contracts against the obstruction.
Symptoms
AB pain in RUQ that "comes and goes"; Postprandial or nocturnal pain; Dark urine; Pain may radiate to back, right scapula, right flank, or chest; May have nausea and/or vomiting; Pain begins 1-4 hours after eating or may awaken the patient during the night; May be precipitated by fatty meals;
PhysicalFindings
Epigastric tenderness; Abdominal distension and rebound tenderness are not common.

Elderly patient; Female > male; Pregnancy; North European descent; Recent weight loss; Obesity; Liver transplant; Crohn disease; Hemolytic anemias;
