RiskFactors
A systemic blood-borne infection; IV drug use; Osteoarthritis; Past history of septic arthritis; Rheumatoid arthritis. Other factors that may increase the risk for septic arthritis include: Alcoholism; Diabetes; HIV; Lung or liver disorders; Old age; Suppressed immune system.
