Symptoms
Intermittent symptoms; Very common; Generalized abdominal pain (100%); No weight loss; Normal vitamins level; Flatulence (100%); Bloating; Watery Diarrhea (70%); Constipation (30%); EVER BLOOD OR FEVER; Nausea (78%); Vomiting (78%); Rumbling or gurgling sounds in the bowel - borborygmi (100%); and an urgent need to have a bowel movement between 30 minutes and 2 hours after eating a meal containing lactose. Usually chronic, the symptoms may be acute or subacute in the setting of recent infection or dietary changes.

ProgressionFromCondition
Abdominal pain, bloating, flatulence, nausea, or diarrhea occurring within a few hours after ingestion of a lactose-containing meal and resolve after five to seven days of avoidance of lactose-containing foods. Recent infection, course of antibiotics or dietary changes.
